When the council insists he take a wife, the tribe selects a striking woman named Snabba Hinden, and after a moment of hesitation the chief accepts, finding a new steadiness in her presence.

Winter soon cloaks the land in white, silencing the river’s song and forcing the warriors into a long, idle period around their fires. As the ice thaws and the first flowers push through the thawed earth, the tribe readies its weapons, eager to follow their chief into the coming season of conflict.
