Description

David Lannarck has spent his life under the big top, where spectators stare and teases echo louder than applause. When a towering stranger rescues him from a bruising showdown on a circus lot, the two form an unlikely friendship that leads David to trade noisy tents for the open range of the western frontier. Together with his new companion, the sturdy Sam Welborn, he sets out to build a quiet ranch, hoping the wide‑open sky will finally bring him peace.

But the frontier is anything but tranquil. Rough‑handed rustlers, a band of gunmen, and crafty thieves quickly draw the pair into dangerous skirmishes. While Sam relies on his strength, David’s quick mind and sharp humor become the key to slipping out of trouble. Their contrasting skills turn every encounter into a lively game of wit versus brawn, offering listeners a blend of circus color and rugged western grit that keeps the adventure rolling from the first mile to the next.

About the author

GS

George S. Harney

Best known for the adventure novel David Lannarck, Midget, this little-documented American writer has a knack for fast-moving storytelling and unusual heroes. His work still circulates through reprints and Project Gutenberg, giving modern readers a glimpse of a once-published voice that has largely slipped out of the biographical record.
