Description

A bright summer day opens the tale, with a young boy of five wandering the sun‑dappled park of a quiet German village. Surrounded by ancient oaks, a shimmering pond, and the lingering peace after the recent wars, he is full of restless curiosity, eager to test his strength on a foal, to watch the sparks fly from the forge, and to chase bright‑red thistles across the meadow. His lively spirits are matched by a kindly father who rides up to meet him, sharing a brief yet tender moment that hints at the values and responsibilities that will shape his future.

Soon the boy’s playful explorations lead him from the stable to the fields, where he meets a diligent farmhand and watches the rhythmic clang of the smithy. The gentle rhythm of village life, the scent of fresh hay, and the simple joy of singing a children’s song paint a vivid picture of an idyllic youth. As the seasons turn, these early experiences lay the groundwork for the adventures and choices that will carry him toward a larger destiny.
