Two hard‑riding cowpokes, the towering Hashknife Hartley and his stout partner Sleepy Stevens, step off a rattling freight train into the dim light of Northgate, a thin outpost on the edge of the Dancing Devil range. A shotgun blast on the loading platform kills a stranger before anyone can spot the shooter, and the town’s sparse lawmen scramble to make sense of the scene. Already the air is heavy with rumors of a busted bank, a missing sheriff, and a cattle deal that could decide the ranchers’ fate.
The pair have been hired by the Cattlemen’s Association to negotiate a lucrative spread at Tomahawk Flats, a settlement plagued by rustlers and uneasy players. While they brace for a cold night in a modest hotel, locals whisper that Christmas will be far from merry and that the dead man may have been tied to the mysterious Circle H outfit. With guns at their hips and wary smiles, Hashknife and Sleepy prepare to ride into a range where trust is scarce and danger rides alongside every herd.
