Connie Morgan in the fur country

In the frozen reaches of the North, a small log cabin fights back against a relentless blizzard. Inside, seasoned trapper Waseche and his eager apprentice, Connie Morgan, share a crackling fire and a restless curiosity about the white‑capped world beyond the door. When Connie hears rumors of a massive “big ruff” prowling the ridge of Spur Mountain, he decides he must not just shoot the creature but capture it, hoping to prove his own worth against the legend.

The story rolls forward as Connie and Waseche brave snow‑filled days, setting snares and tracking footprints through deep drifts. Their dialogue, steeped in frontier slang, paints a vivid picture of life on the edge of civilization—where every howl could be a wolf, a dog, or something in between. As the duo wrestles with the harsh elements and the growing myth of the beast, listeners are drawn into a tale of courage, camaraderie, and the untamed spirit of the fur country.
