Description

Two friends set out on a modest motor launch, the Aurora, to navigate the winding waterways that snake from the Georgia‑Alabama border down into the Florida swamps. Phil, a curious naturalist with a family estate in the marshland, pairs with Larry, an eager‑but‑inexperienced city boy who dreams of becoming a lawyer and treats every new sight as a lesson. Their banter and contrasting views turn the river’s quiet flow into a lively classroom of wildlife, hidden homesteads, and the quirks of swamp life.

As the engine sputters to life, the boys encounter the first signs of local drama—riders flashing through the trees and distant shouts that hint at a hunt or a gathering. Their curiosity spurs them deeper into the tangled cypress country, where the landscape’s beauty is matched only by the mysteries that lurk beneath the water’s surface. Along the way, friendship is tested and strengthened, promising plenty of humor, learning, and the thrill of youthful adventure.
