Greg Marson has just won a high‑stakes legal case, but the celebration is cut short when his wife Dora collapses with a sudden cancer diagnosis. In their cramped apartment, their young children cling to routine while the government’s new health policy earmarks those with genetic flaws for exile to the colonized Mars. Greg, a healthy man barred by law from traveling there, begins to scramble for a shadowy, illegal route that might keep his family together.
Outside the clinic, officers remind Greg that the rule is meant to protect Earth by sending “susceptible” citizens to the red planet, a place described as a harsh laboratory for a cancer‑free future. As Dora contemplates sterilization and a possible passage offworld, Greg wrestles with a growing sense of betrayal and the frightening prospect of losing his family to a distant world. The story follows his desperate search for a loophole, revealing the personal cost of a society that sacrifices love for supposed purity.
