Brains—But Scrambled
When four bold bandits ambush the Monte Vista–Coyote Wells stage and escape with stolen money, mail, jewelry, and passengers’ cash, Sheriff Joe Cook vows to bring them back. But the outlaws have vanished into the treacherous Smoky Creek badlands, where ravines, arroyos, and shifting sands erase every trail. Even an armed posse has found nothing.
Back in town, the weary sheriff discovers his deputy, Shorty McKay, far more interested in practicing Spanish with the beautiful Señorita Dorothe than in pursuing criminals. Shorty insists he is studying the language, but his flushed face and obvious devotion suggest another lesson entirely. Furious, Cook orders him to gather horses, pack mules, and provisions for yet another search.
With the sheriff riding out once more and Shorty leaving the office under mysterious circumstances, the stage-robbery investigation takes on a lively, unpredictable air. This entertaining Western adventure blends rough frontier justice, comic misunderstandings, romance, and a baffling manhunt across one of the wildest corners of the territory.
