A minute to think
A MINUTE TO THINK
In the mountain town of Gunsight, Old “Pappy” Stewart has spent a lifetime driving the Q-B Stage Lines’ six spirited black mules along the treacherous road to Central City. Dependable, beloved, and fiercely proud of his team, Pappy has never missed a minute of schedule—or accepted change easily. Now the company is replacing its mule-drawn stages with bright, powerful motor buses, and Pappy is expected to become a bus driver.
Though he sees the new machine as a threat to his way of life, Pappy reluctantly agrees to learn, bringing his stubborn determination and hard-earned knowledge of the mountain roads to an unfamiliar machine. As workers widen and smooth the route in the name of progress, his first lessons promise plenty of mishaps, resistance, and good-natured teasing from the stage crew. This warm, humorous adventure follows an old professional facing modern times while discovering whether experience, courage, and one careful minute to think can keep him—and his passengers—moving safely forward.
