Description

The story opens on a quiet August morning off the Labrador coast, where Abel Zachariah is hauling in cod from his skiff while his wife watches from the rocky shore. A mysterious, unmanned boat drifts into view, stirring the promise of a prize that could change a fisherman’s fortunes. As Abel rows toward the sleek vessel, the narrative paints the harsh beauty of the sea and the relentless drive of those who make their living upon it.

The discovery of the ghostly craft pulls Bobby, a hard‑hearted hunter, and his group into a dangerous scramble for the vessel before the tide seals it away. Their race against time reveals the thin line between opportunity and disaster on these frozen waters. Throughout, the tale mixes vivid descriptions of the Labrador wilderness with a quiet meditation on perseverance and the harsh lessons the sea imparts.
