Description

In a sleepy Missouri town, a group of schoolgirls gathers by the gate, chattering about the mysterious "Bee" who has vanished into the old schoolhouse. Their curiosity turns to admiration when Beatrice Raymond, known as Bee, steps out carrying delicate caterpillars and butterfly specimens for a special project. She hopes the collection will impress the father she has not seen in years—a noted lepidopterist whose return looms on the horizon.

The story follows Bee’s earnest attempts to master the world of insects while navigating the everyday dramas of adolescence, from jealous whispers to hopeful plans. As she tends the fragile larvae, the narrative draws a gentle parallel between their metamorphosis and her own journey toward confidence and purpose. Through humor, friendship, and a touch of mischief, listeners are invited to share in the quiet wonder of growing up alongside winged wonder.
