Description

In the rugged frontier between Bombay and the Western Ghats, a small British outpost teeters on the edge of danger. Major Lindsay, his wife, and their infant son are cared for by a devoted Mahratta ayah whose loyalty bridges two worlds. As the camp’s troopers patrol the surrounding hills, the ever‑present threat of roaming bandits and the simmering tension of the Mahratta Confederacy loom over everyday life.

When a sudden proclamation sparks unrest, the young boy—caught between his English upbringing and the fierce local culture—finds himself thrust into the heart of the conflict. He witnesses the raw clash of musket fire and bayonet, the daring raids across rivers, and the looming specter of a great battle that could reshape the Indian Peninsula. Through his eyes, listeners experience the stark beauty of the landscape, the clash of empires, and the fragile hope that a single act of bravery might tip the balance.
