Description

When news of the Lusitania’s sinking spreads, a group of friends gathering around a cluttered office decide whether to answer the nation’s call. Their banter mixes sarcasm with earnest patriotism, reflecting the tension between old‑world ideals and modern, mechanized warfare. As the bugle sounds, they realize the adventure ahead will test more than their bravery.

Soon they trade civilian coats for uniforms, marching from bustling city streets to a training camp where discipline and drill replace idle chatter. Under the watchful eye of seasoned veterans, they confront cold mornings, exhausting drills, and the stark reality that a soldier’s life is built on routine and sacrifice. The camaraderie forged in those first weeks hints at the challenges they will face across the ocean in France’s war‑torn fields.
