Description

A lazy afternoon by the river turns extraordinary when a curious young girl spots a white rabbit hurrying by, pocket‑watch in hand and muttering about being late. Driven by wonder, she follows it and tumbles down a deep, twisting shaft that seems lined with cupboards, maps and strange knick‑knacks, each glimpse hinting at a world far beyond the ordinary garden. The descent leaves her bewildered yet eager, as the darkness gives way to a fantastical landscape where logic bends and the absurd feels at home.

Soon she finds herself amidst talking flowers, a melancholy pond, and a host of eccentric creatures who invite her into riddles, tea parties and bewildering games. Their quirky customs and gentle absurdity spark both laughter and puzzlement, while she navigates this vivid realm, learning to question the rules that once seemed fixed. Listeners will be drawn into a tale that celebrates imagination, the joy of curiosity, and the delight of discovering a place where the ordinary becomes wonderfully strange.

Best known for sending Alice down the rabbit hole, this quietly inventive Victorian writer mixed playful nonsense with a sharp mathematical mind. His stories still charm readers with their dream logic, wordplay, and sense of wonder.
