Description

A charismatic young man, Archie Brookes, slips into the polished world of the Morrice household, keen to gauge the ambitions of Richard Croxton, the quiet secretary to the powerful financier Rupert Morrice. Their uneasy friendship crackles with unspoken rivalries, as the banker's opulent mansion becomes a stage for whispered promises, furtive glances, and a growing sense that something valuable—perhaps more than wealth—lies hidden within its walls.

When a safe is burglarized and a mysterious note arrives, the everyday routine of the staff unravels into a tangled web of suspicion, blackmail, and hidden motives. As Croxton navigates the delicate balance between loyalty and self‑preservation, he discovers that debts—whether financial, familial, or moral—can bind people in ways far more unforgiving than any contract. The tension builds as each character must decide whether to protect their secrets or expose the truth that could ruin them all.
