Description

In the smoky back‑room of a Soho eatery, a nervous conversation between two men flickers like the ember of a cigar. One is Theodore Drost, a composed stranger whose sharp eyes scan the crowd for his daughter, Stella Steele, a rising revue star whose laughter masks a dangerous curiosity. The other, a gaunt Dutch pastor, warns that Ella’s friendly ties to a certain Kennedy could draw unwanted attention from the very authorities they hope to evade.

The story follows Ella as she navigates the glittering stages of London’s music halls while her father works in shadow, pulling strings that could alter the balance between Britain and the covert network of foreign agents nesting in the city. Their world is one of whispered warnings, covert meetings, and a fragile alliance between ambition and survival. As the first act unfolds, the listener is drawn into a tense dance of loyalty, betrayal, and the thin ice on which the Drost family treads.
