Description

The story opens on the rolling plains of the Santa Fe Trail, where amber sunsets paint the hills and a hidden stream winds through a sea of spring grasses. Young Bruce Walraven, a restless fortune‑hunter, joins the seasoned Colonel Warlow as they follow rumors of the lost Monteluma treasure, a cache said to be buried beneath an ancient stone corral. Their journey is marked by campfires, bandit raids, and the restless spirit of the frontier that feels both beautiful and unforgiving.

As they trek across open meadows and dusty crossings, the pair encounter a colorful cast—from the hardened Warlow family to the enigmatic heiress of Monteluma—each holding a fragment of the mystery. The narrative weaves together danger, fleeting romance, and the harsh realities of frontier survival, all while a subtle, almost ghostly presence seems to watch from the old stone corral. Listeners are drawn into a world where ambition clashes with loyalty, and every campfire conversation could turn the tide of their quest.

John Dunloe Carteret

A shadowy late-19th-century novelist, he is remembered for a single surviving frontier adventure set along the Santa Fe Trail. The scarcity of solid biographical detail gives his work an extra air of mystery.
