Very little can be confirmed about this author as a historical person. Modern ebook catalogs such as Project Gutenberg list the name “Xuahua Biao” and note the alias 雪花飄, usually read as Xuehua Piao, in connection with 後西游記 (Later Journey to the West).

That novel is a sequel to Journey to the West and is commonly described in reference sources as a late imperial Chinese work, probably from around the late Ming or early Qing period. Some Chinese reference pages even describe the book’s authorship as uncertain, which suggests that “Xuahua Biao” may reflect a pen name, cataloging convention, or later attribution rather than a well-documented biographical identity.

Because the surviving information is so limited, the author’s lasting reputation rests almost entirely on the book itself: a lively continuation of the Journey to the West tradition, filled with satire, folklore, and new adventures built on a famous literary world.
