Born in Kuopio on December 6, 1892, Tatu Pekkarinen was a Finnish lyricist, writer, and screenwriter. He became known above all for song lyrics and comic writing that carried a warm, distinctly local sense of humor.
His work reached people in several forms: popular songs, prose, stage writing, and film scripts. Finnish biographical sources note that he played an important part in bringing East Finnish folk humor into mainstream entertainment, and he is often linked with well-known songs such as Kaunis Veera, On lautalla pienoinen kahvila, and Väliaikainen.
Pekkarinen died in Helsinki on July 4, 1951. Even so, his words continued to travel through songs and films, giving him a lasting place in Finnish popular storytelling.
