by Robina F. Hardy
Born in Edinburgh in 1835, Robina Forrester Hardy wrote under the name Robina F. Hardy and became known as a Scottish Victorian author, poet, and missionary. Her work is associated with writing about Scottish life for younger readers, and reference sources also connect her with the broader kailyard tradition.
Her religious faith shaped much of her life and writing. Sources note that she edited Morning Rays, a Church of Scotland magazine for children, and also carried out missionary work in Edinburgh's slums.
Hardy died in 1891. Although she is not as widely known today as some of her contemporaries, her stories and poems still reflect a vivid mix of faith, feeling, and everyday Scottish life.
