Born in Campanet, Mallorca, in 1864, Miquel dels Sants Oliver became one of the most respected intellectual voices of his time. He worked as a journalist, writer, and historian, and was closely linked to the cultural revival of the Catalan-speaking world.
He wrote for important newspapers and magazines and built a reputation for clear, thoughtful commentary on politics, literature, and society. Alongside his journalism, he published essays and historical works; one of his best-known studies focused on Catalonia during the French Revolution.
Oliver spent much of his career between Mallorca, Barcelona, and Madrid, bringing a broad perspective to his writing. He died in 1920, and he is still remembered as an important figure in modern Catalan and Mallorcan intellectual history.
