About the author
Born in Easton, Pennsylvania, in 1867, John Eyerman was known as a geologist, mineralogist, and genealogical writer. A contemporary encyclopedia entry describes him as educated at Lafayette College and as continuing his studies at Harvard, Columbia, and Princeton, and notes that he lectured on determinative mineralogy at Lafayette while also serving as an associate editor of The American Geologist.
Eyerman also wrote extensively on genealogy and local history. Archive.org records for his books show works including Genealogical Studies; The Ancestry of Marguerite and John Eyerman and The Old Grave-Yards of Northampton and Adjacent Counties in the State of Pennsylvania, both of which reflect his deep interest in family lines, regional history, and historical records.
He died in 1945. Although he is not widely remembered today, his writing still stands out for the way it brings together scientific training, historical curiosity, and a strong sense of place.
