Born in Troy, New York, Jeanie Gould Lincoln became known as an American author of poems, romances, and historical novels. Her early writing was encouraged by editor Nathaniel Parker Willis, and she published across several genres over a long career.

Her books include A Chaplet of Leaves and a number of novels, among them Marjorie's Quest, A Genuine Girl, An Unwilling Maid, A Pretty Tory, and A Javelin of Fate. Many of her best-known stories draw on American history, especially the Revolutionary era, blending vivid settings with accessible storytelling.
