Born in Sens on October 30, 1838, and dead in Paris on September 12, 1906, Gustave Ducoudray was a French historian and educator. He became known for writing history in a direct, accessible way, especially for students and general readers.
Ducoudray taught history at teacher-training institutions, including the École normale supérieure de Saint-Cloud and the École normale des instituteurs de la Seine. His career was closely tied to education, and many of his books were designed to make broad historical subjects easier to grasp.
