A Canadian Presbyterian minister who also wrote historical fiction, he brought Maritime settings and church history together in novels and local histories rooted in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

by Frank Baird
Born in Chipman, New Brunswick, Frank Baird studied at the University of New Brunswick and at New College in Edinburgh. He went on to serve as a Presbyterian minister in several parishes, including Pictou, and was later appointed Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Canada in 1930.
Alongside his church work, he wrote both fiction and nonfiction. Sources connected to his papers and publisher describe him as the author of historical novels including Roger Davis, Loyalist, Rob MacNab: A Story of Old Pictou, and Parson John of the Labrador, as well as church and local history works.
His archival records present him as a figure whose ministry and writing were closely linked, with his life and papers documenting both his work in the Presbyterian Church and his career as an author.
