About the author

Eva Hirn was a Finnish author and columnist, born Eva Alfhild Bergroth in Vyborg on October 10, 1877, and died in Helsinki on October 9, 1948. She came from a literary family and was the sister of writers Kersti Bergroth and Inkeri Relander.

She studied in Vyborg and later pursued mathematics and natural sciences at the University of Helsinki. Alongside her writing, she contributed to newspapers and radio, building a career that ranged across fiction, plays, feuilletons, and books for children and young readers.

Her work was published mainly in the 1920s and 1930s. Readers can still find titles such as Helin kesä, Jännittävä talvi, Lyö sinä, minä venytän, and Sirkan kosijat, which reflect her interest in family life, youth, and the small comic turns of everyday experience.
