Born in Florence on August 2, 1891, Emilio Settimelli was an Italian writer, journalist, and cultural organizer. He became associated with the Futurist movement and is especially remembered for helping develop the idea of Futurist theater alongside Filippo Tommaso Marinetti and Bruno Corra.
Settimelli was active in literary and journalistic circles, writing for and founding magazines and newspapers including Il Centauro and La rivista. His career placed him at the center of experimental Italian culture in the years before and after World War I, where he worked across criticism, polemics, and creative writing.
He died in Lipari on February 12, 1954. Today he is remembered mainly for his role in the history of Italian Futurism and for the energy he brought to its theatrical and publishing projects.
