by Bohuslav Kokoschka
Born in Vienna in 1892, Bohuslav Kokoschka was an Austrian painter, graphic artist, and writer. Reliable sources describe him as active across both visual art and literature, and note that he was the younger brother of Oskar Kokoschka, a connection that often shaped how he was remembered.
During World War I he was drafted into the Austrian navy. After the war he wrote the novel Ketten in das Meer, a book tied to that period and later reissued, showing his interest in turning lived history into fiction.
He spent most of his life in Vienna and died there in 1976. Although he never became as widely known as his brother, his work still stands out for its mix of artistic and literary ambition.
