Description

In a richly imagined early‑17th‑century world, the story opens within the glittering yet precarious courts of the Ottoman Empire, where Hungarian royalty are caught in a web of diplomatic gifts, secret letters and shifting alliances. The opulent tents and austere palace corridors pulse with the tension of an uneasy peace, while foreign emissaries navigate a maze of protocol and intrigue.

At the heart of the drama is Isabella, a determined queen‑mother whose sleepless nights are drawn from two worries: her son’s perilous journey into the Sultan’s tent and the fragile balance of power that hinges on a single infant’s fate. She entrusts a modest clerk, Markos, with a trove of priceless jewels and a carefully crafted Latin missive, hoping the tokens will sway the sultan and secure her child’s safe return.

As the gifts make their way through bustling camps and wary courtiers, Isabella’s sharp mind confronts a brewing crisis that threatens both her nation and her own standing. Her fierce temperament, coupled with a keen sense of political forethought, sets the stage for a tense confrontation that will test loyalties on both sides of the empire.
