Description

In the hush of an untamed forest, a teenage hunter moves silently along an ancient Indian trail, his rifle cradled against a massive oak. The scene is painted with the crisp sounds of waking birds, a doe and fawn at a creek, and the steady breath of a boy who knows the land’s harsh demands. His name is Enoch Harding, a sturdy thirteen‑year‑old whose skill with a muzzle‑loader is matched only by his hunger for the next meal. When a shot rings out, the fleeting triumph is cut short by a scream that echoes through the trees, hinting that danger already stalks this wild frontier.

Soon after, Enoch finds himself thrust into the company of Ethan Allen, the charismatic leader rallying settlers to defend the strategic outpost at Ticonderoga. Together they confront the looming threat of a powerful adversary, navigating rugged terrain, uneasy alliances, and the raw resolve of a people fighting for their homes. The narrative weaves personal courage with the larger sweep of a pivotal moment in early American history.
