Description

A hard‑boiled mercenary known as Five‑Gun Charles DeCrabbe rolls into the sky‑lined town of Featherton, his sleek space coupe glinting under the alien suns. The citizens, terrified by massive, feather‑covered whirlybirds that swoop down, lift victims by their heels and drop them from dizzying heights, have pleaded for a solution. DeCrabbe meets the mayor and his eager son, learns the creatures’ eerie “coo‑coo” calls and the futility of ordinary weapons against the swirling vortexes they create.

Armed with an arsenal of exotic guns—needle pistols, an explosive pellet rifle, an N‑ray flashburn, and a rocket‑propelled stun‑gas sprayer—he plans a daring counter‑offensive. The story follows his meticulous preparation, the tense negotiations with the townsfolk, and the first bold attempts to outsmart the relentless, forty‑foot predators. Listeners will be drawn into a vivid, high‑tech western showdown on a distant planet, where bravery meets bizarre biology in a fight for survival.
