SONNLEITNERIN EMÄNTÄ
KAMASAKSA
A tiny, snow‑kissed mountain hamlet opens the curtain on a cramped, dimly lit cottage where the scent of pine shavings hangs in the air. Inside, the relentless rhythm of a woodcarver’s bench fills the space, surrounded by half‑finished figures and the chatter of two small children darting about. Friedl Sonnleitner reposes on a narrow bed, bound and silent, while his wife wrestles with a thick, green‑hued shawl that seems to hold together more than just fabric.
Amid the clatter of tools and the low murmur of a village doctor’s voice, old Perathoner stalks in, demanding his overdue wages, and the eager but nervous apprentice Max Roller watches the tension rise. Secrets, debts, and the weight of unspoken expectations press on the characters, hinting that the ordinary grind of daily survival may soon give way to a sudden, inevitable tragedy.
