Viva la pay day

Ace Faulkner and his two hard-bitten American companions have found adventure—and a promising payday—in the rugged hills of a Central American republic. Flying an aging Curtiss scout plane for General Juan Banzilla’s rebel army, Ace leads the trio through jungle camps, battered tents, and a campaign that seems close to victory. Red Larrabee is a cheerful, perpetually hungry soldier of fortune, while grumbling ex-lumberjack Jonas Peters provides a steady stream of complaints and dry humor.

Their hopes of collecting their pay are threatened when a trim new aircraft lands with the Federal forces, giving Banzilla’s enemy a dangerous advantage. With the rebels’ advance suddenly checked, Ace, Red, and Jonas are called upon to do more than move camp and endure army rations. They must use nerve, flying skill, and a willingness to take outrageous risks as the struggle races toward the lowlands—and the money waiting at the end of it.
