In the twilight of the nineteenth century, humanity goes about its daily routines, convinced of its unquestioned dominion over Earth. Beneath that complacency, a distant world watches—a cold, ancient planet whose inhabitants have long survived the slow death of their own environment. When the first signs of the Martians’ arrival flicker across the sky, the fragile illusion of human supremacy begins to crumble, and the planet is thrust into a bewildering new reality.

The narrative follows a handful of ordinary people as they confront an intelligence far beyond their own, confronting both awe and terror in equal measure.
