Description

Set amid the wind‑blasted heights of the Peak district, the tale opens with a fierce March storm that tears through the open countryside of Castle Barfield. The relentless gale rattles the ancient gray‑stone house perched on Beacon Hargate, its windows glowing like beacons against the night’s darkness. In this stark, weather‑worn landscape, the land itself seems to breathe a mournful hymn, hinting at the deep roots and hidden histories of the region.

Into this turmoil trudges a stout, rain‑soaked traveller, his coat heavy with water and his spirit bruised by the elements. Seeking shelter, he presses toward the glowing mansion, clinging to a copse of stunted trees for a brief reprieve. As the door finally yields to his desperate knock, the warm light inside promises both respite and the beginning of a larger story that will reach far beyond the English hills, toward distant shores and forgotten conflicts.
