Description

In the smoky lounge of San Francisco’s Bohemian Club, a young heir named George du Cane wrestles with the weight of a fortune that will only fully belong to him at twenty‑five. Surrounded by poets, musicians, and artists nursing the dry spell of Prohibition, he watches the world of privilege and ambition swirl around him, while his own lineage—marked by scandal and daring speculation—casts a long, colorful shadow.

Enter Hank Fisher, a restless tinker with a wild résumé and a gleam of eccentric genius. His restless energy and off‑beat inventions make him a magnetic presence among the club’s eclectic crowd, and his unpredictable nature promises both trouble and inspiration. As these vivid personalities mingle, the novel sets a stage of restless ambition, fleeting friendships, and the tantalizing promise of adventure that lies just beyond the foggy San Francisco harbor.
