In a land haunted by the “Great Fury,” a grim shadow spreads across the countryside, stirring fear and fierce determination. Young sons of the local vicar—Juho, Taneli, and their brother Antero—join a small band of towering warriors, the urhot, whose strength is said to rival the strongest steed. With scant numbers but fierce resolve, they gather what men they can and set out for Häme, driven by a solemn oath to defend their homes and honor the Higher Power. Their journey is marked by solemn vows, gritty camaraderie, and the weight of leaving beloved families behind.
Soon the group encounters a foreign presence when Swedish commander Ehnberg takes up residence in the vicar’s rectory, bringing with him a small guard and a tangled web of desire. Whispers of jealousy stir among the brothers, especially as Juho suspects an unsettling closeness between Ehnberg and his sister‑in‑law. This uneasy tension adds a personal conflict to the looming battle, hinting at deeper struggles that will test both loyalty and courage.
