In the thick pine woods of 1816 Finland, widower Grubert Reuss makes a humble living cutting timber with his two children, eleven‑year‑old Blonda and thirteen‑year‑old Tonie. Their log‑cabin home is spartan but warm, sustained by simple fare of rye bread, porridge and whatever the forest yields, and by the steady presence of Pastor Oshart, the kindly minister who lives nearby. Though the village of Carfoos is small, it is divided: the pastor is beloved by most, yet the rough Valden family openly resents his teachings, creating an undercurrent of tension around the quiet family.
Amid these ordinary rhythms, rumors begin to swirl about an “important trust” and a mysterious Isle of Ghosts that lies beyond the trees. Grubert, Blonda, and Tonie find themselves drawn into a subtle conflict that will test their resourcefulness, faith, and the bonds that hold them together. Listeners are invited to follow the two little Finns as they step beyond their familiar woods into a world where courage must meet curiosity.
