Description

Tom Swift is the bright‑eyed son of a seasoned engineer, always eager to turn daring ideas into reality. When a desperate railroad executive proposes a bold new project—a locomotive that could zip along the Pas Alos Range at two miles a minute—Tom sees both a thrilling technical challenge and a chance to help a struggling line stay competitive. Together with his father’s workshop, he begins sketching the design of an electric engine that could conquer steep grades and harsh weather, promising faster, cleaner travel through the rugged mountains.

The venture quickly draws Tom into a web of corporate intrigue. A rival company, backed by powerful financiers, threatens to outflank the existing railroad, and the pressure to deliver a breakthrough grows intense. As Tom and his trusted mechanics dive into the prototype’s construction, they must navigate secretive meetings, looming competition, and the ever‑present danger of sabotage—all while testing the limits of early electric technology. The story captures the excitement of invention and the high‑stakes race to keep a vital rail line alive.
