Description

The story follows a shy, clumsy boy who arrives at the famed Rugby School, carrying the teasing nickname “Cad” that haunts him from his earlier days at a village school. Under the watchful eye of the celebrated head‑master, Dr. Arnold, the new pupil is thrust into a world of strict discipline, ancient traditions, and fierce camaraderie. His uneasy first weeks are marked by awkward attempts to fit in, the sting of relentless teasing, and the dawning realization that the school’s true purpose lies in shaping character as much as intellect.

As he navigates the bustling corridors, the boy discovers the powerful pull of sport, loyalty, and honest effort. Early friendships begin to form on the playing fields, while the demanding expectations of teachers and older students force him to confront his fears. Through modest triumphs and gentle guidance, he starts to build the steadfastness and integrity that Rugby seeks to instill in all its pupils.
