Description

Set in the bustling heart of the early Republic, the tale follows the striking figure of Tizio Caio Sempronio, a Roman knight of the equestrian order. With golden curls, a chiselled jaw and the flamboyant purple trim of his tunic, he commands attention wherever he walks the Via Lata or the Via Flaminia. Rich landowner of Tivoli and the Reatine countryside, his charm wins the admiration of senators, poets and the ambitious youths who will later shape Rome’s destiny.

He lives in a two‑storey domus on the Viminal hill, a spacious atrium opening onto a peristyle courtyard that reflects the grandeur of his lineage. Though he revels in the traditional Republic and shuns radical reforms, his generous spending and easy camaraderie keep him at the center of Rome’s social scene. As political currents begin to stir, the reader is invited to watch how this celebrated cavalier navigates the tensions between old‑world values and the ambitions of a changing city.
