The Woodcutter's Dog
THE WOODCUTTER’S DOG
In the Forest of Lions, where wolves roam in frightening numbers, woodcutter Brisquet and his family struggle through a bitter winter. Their home is humble, but it is filled with affection: Brisquet, his wife Brisquette, their two young children, and Bichonne, a lively black dog with a bright red nose.
When Brisquet is delayed on his way home, worry quickly turns to alarm. The children venture toward the mound and pond to find him, despite the danger lurking beyond their little settlement, and Bichonne cannot resist following. This gently told French tale combines woodland suspense, family devotion, and the quiet courage of an utterly faithful companion, with a simple style suited to younger listeners and adults who enjoy classic stories. As the snowy forest closes around the searching family, every bark and distant movement carries new urgency.
