Transcriber's Notes:
Dorothy lives a quiet, gray life on the endless Kansas prairie, sharing a modest, weather‑worn house with Uncle Henry, Aunt Em, and her lively little dog Toto. One afternoon a fierce cyclone whirls over the flat landscape, sweeping their home and the frightened girl far beyond the familiar sky. When the storm finally settles, Dorothy finds herself in a bright, unfamiliar land where the colors seem to sing.
In this new place she quickly befriends a talking Scarecrow, a gentle Tin Woodman, and a timid Lion—each longing for something they feel they lack. Together they set out down a winding, yellow‑brick road toward the famed Emerald City, hoping the mysterious wizard who dwells there might grant their wishes. Along the way they face curious challenges, discover hidden kindnesses, and learn that the road itself holds more wonder than any destination.
