Description

In the shadowed backroom of Rue du Milieu-des-Ursins, an austere abbe and his nervous secretary grapple with a precarious moment for their Order. Father d'Aigrigny, fearing expulsion by post‑July Revolution state, has gathered the Order’s most secret archives while his under‑belly aide Rodin reports the unexpected arrival of Morok, a travelling performer whose presence may shift the balance of power between Catholics and Protestants. As they prepare for a ceremony that will finally unseal a hidden house—closed for a century and a half—their conversation reveals centuries‑old grudges and a looming clash that could reshape the religious landscape.

The narrative then turns to a cryptic note dating from 1682, recounting the fate of Marius de Rennepont, a rebel turned alleged sinner whose confiscated wealth and violent end left a lingering secret. The abbe and his allies must untangle this buried history before the dawn of the promised day, while shadows of betrayal and hidden motives swirl around every revelation. Listeners are invited into a world of cloistered intrigue, where each whispered confession could tip the scales toward salvation or ruin.
