The Three Jovial Huntsmen

Join three cheerful huntsmen as they stride across the countryside, blowing their horns and searching for something worth taking home. Their lively expedition soon becomes a parade of comic misunderstandings: a ragged boggart may be a farmer, a rumbling grindstone an enormous cheese, and a bull-calf something altogether more surprising.

Told in bouncing northern dialect and punctuated by the recurring cry “Look ye there!”, this playful rhyme turns ordinary country sights into an escalating series of absurd guesses. Children, a pig, and a pair of lovers all become part of the hunters’ wonderfully muddled adventure, while the energetic illustrations add another layer of visual humor. With its strong rhythm, memorable refrain, and good-natured characters, this is a spirited listen for families and anyone who enjoys traditional verse, comic confusion, and a day outdoors that ends with plenty of fun—but no game.
