Description

In a sun‑blazed Colorado settlement where mining dust mingles with the scent of sagebrush, the little general store at MacGonigal’s serves as the town’s unofficial crossroads. From the cracked pine counter to the distant blue rim of the Rockies, the scene is painted with a blend of hard‑won optimism and the relentless dryness of a year‑long drought. The rhythm of daily life is punctuated by the clatter of wagons and the murmur of miners, all drawn to this modest hub for supplies, gossip, and a brief respite from the open plain.

Into this routine strides John Darien Power, cradling a wounded mustang that has lost a leg yet refuses to surrender. His arrival catches the eye of the taciturn storekeeper, Mac, whose few words mask a deeper concern that suddenly surfaces as he pauses his polishing, cigarette poised, and mutters a low‑key curse. Their uneasy exchange hints at a problem larger than a broken horse—something that threatens the fragile balance of the community.

As the dry wind carries whispers of unsettled fortunes and hidden motives, listeners are invited to follow the early tensions that ripple through Bison’s streets, setting the stage for choices that will test loyalty, courage, and the very meaning of surrender.
