THE TALE OF TOM KITTEN
THE TALE OF
TOM KITTEN
Meet three playful kittens—Moppet, Mittens, and their rather troublesome brother, Tom Kitten. Their mother, Mrs. Tabitha Twitchit, is preparing an elegant tea party and insists that her children be washed, brushed, and dressed in their finest clothes. Tom’s new outfit is especially difficult to manage, as he has grown too much for it and is not at all pleased to be scrubbed and combed.
Sent outdoors to stay clean and out of the way, the kittens soon discover that formal clothing is no help when climbing garden walls. Pinafores collect green smears, hats and buttons go missing, and a procession of curious Puddle-Ducks adds to the confusion. With gentle humor, lively repetition, and charming illustrations, this classic story captures the chaos of childhood mischief—and one mother’s increasingly desperate efforts to keep everything respectable before her guests arrive.
