The Tale of Peter Rabbit
THE TALE OF
Four little rabbits live beneath the roots of a great fir tree with their mother, who warns them to stay away from Mr. McGregor’s garden. Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail obediently head down the lane to gather blackberries, but curious Peter cannot resist the forbidden garden. Soon he is nibbling lettuces, beans, and radishes—and discovering why his mother’s warning was so serious.
When Mr. McGregor spots him, Peter is swept into a frantic adventure through cabbages, potatoes, bushes, and the tool shed. He loses his shoes, gets caught by his jacket, hides in a watering can, and struggles to find the gate while danger seems to appear at every turn. With lively repetition, gentle humor, and charming woodland details, this classic tale captures the excitement of disobedience, the fear of being caught, and a small rabbit’s desperate determination to get home.
