The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher
THE TALE OF
Mr. Jeremy Fisher is a cheerful frog who lives in a damp little house beside a pond, where wet feet are a pleasure rather than a nuisance. One rainy day, he decides to go fishing for minnows and hopes to invite his friends, the dignified tortoise Mr. Alderman Ptolemy and the scholarly Sir Isaac Newton, to dinner.
Dressed in a macintosh and shiny goloshes, Jeremy sets out in his tiny green boat with a reed-pole rod, a bright red float, and a wriggling worm for bait. But the pond has surprises in store: an impatient water beetle, suspicious rustling in the rushes, a prickly stickleback, and something far larger beneath the surface. With gentle humor, vivid pondside details, and a memorable cast of animal characters, this charming story follows one frog’s soggy, adventurous fishing trip—and the unusual meal that awaits him and his friends.
