Description

In a remote garrison town, a tight‑knit circle of young officers passes their days between drills, card games, and the occasional nightcap. Their world is interrupted by Silvio, an enigmatic former Hussar who lives alone in a modest villa, his reputation built on flawless pistol shooting and an air of unspoken authority. He lends books without expecting them back, fills his humble home with the soft echo of spent bullets, and commands a quiet respect that borders on reverence.

When a newly arrived lieutenant, flushed with wine, hurls a brass candlestick at Silvio in a fit of fury, the other officers brace themselves for an inevitable duel. Yet Silvio’s reaction is anything but expected; his calm composure hints at a deeper code of honor and a past that still haunts him. Listeners are drawn into a tense portrait of military camaraderie, mystery, and the fragile line between pride and restraint, all set against the backdrop of a 19th‑century Russian outpost.
